The Strikezone Crew
Al McGlashan - The host with the most!
Al McGlashan is one of Australia’s most popular anglers (well at least he thinks so!!). Internationally renowned for his fishing photography Al’s work has graced the pages of dozens of magazines around the world - they even translate it onto other languages!
He has published four books including the best selling Complete Fishing Bible (50,000 copies) and is now finishing off number five which is currently overdue. His love of fishing (and a fear of actual work) steered him away from the corporate world and ultimately helped him turned his passion into his career. Al’s approach is if you love what you do you never have to work a single day.
Spending more than 200 days a year on the water ( which is great for his marriage!) Al specialises in catching big fishing from trailerboats. Famous for catching that huge bull shark in Sydney Harbour and his Great White Shark encounters Al is a regular on TV and radio. His enthusiasm for fishing is raw and natural and some of the things he has planned for the brand new Strikezone TV series are nothing shot of outlandish. Actually the only way to shut him was to get him his own TV show!
For Al it has been a long hard slog to build up a reputation in the fishing and boating industry, but he would have it no other way, especially when he gets to do what he loves most fish and then tell everyone about it!
Ron Croft - Guru cameraman
Ron is an award winning director of photography with director, producer and editing credits. With over 27 years experience shooting on film, video tape and High Definition formats for documentaries, television commercials and television programs.
Ron’s work has taken him all over the world from the tropical jungles of Malaysia to the concrete jungles of the US. He has travelled and photographed in all corners of the world as well as all parts of Australia, criss-crossing the country by four wheel drive and light aircraft on many expeditions and documentaries.
In addition to time in the field, Ron is a regular guest lecturer at the Sydney campus of the Australian Film Television and Radio School lecturing on documentary cinematography, creative use of available light and mini DV camera techniques. He also lectures first year cinematography and location sound recording students on their roles in a documentary environment.
Ron’s experience is not limited to the small screen and he has been involved with many feature films including Happy Feet, Superman Returns and more recently Happy Feet 2 shooting animation reference, special features and behind the scenes material. Since teaming up with Al to create the Strikezone DVD range several years ago Ron is still catching bigger fish than Al!
Andy Letho - Producer/Editor
Andy’s main job really is just to keep Al and Ron in line and fix up all their stuff ups so the show actually looks half decent in the end!
Financial Controller - Rach McGlashan
No one in their right mind would leave Al in charge of anything so important. As a result Rach McGlashan (the real boss) has taken on the role and is ready to use the whip on Al!
Mick Lyons
Mick brings the country element to the show. For someone who has grown up chasing cows around he is just at home on the water. An ex charter boat skipper Mick is always keen for a fish even though he is allergic to them!
Vic Levitt
A gun angler Vic is renowned as one of the best trailerboat sportfishermen in the country and is just as happy battling billfish as he is GTs. Despite almost killing Mick after feeding him fish they still love nothing better than stirring Al!
Roddy Findlay
Ex cairns decky handy Roddy has fished with some of the best and is as keen as they come when it comes to gamefishing. Having built a 40 foot gameboat from scratch with his brother he is serious about his fishing. Like Vic and Mick he is also keen to keep Al under control!
Warren Keelan
Waz is charged with running the website but the guys felt sorry for him so they allow him out of the office occasionally. Seriously though Waz is a gun estuary light tackle angler who specialises in small fish (which Al can use for bait!).
James Yerbury
Yerbs earned instant fame when he managed to drop a huge kingfish overboard after bleeding it while filming Strikezone Sportfishing. In between dropping them over the side he does catch a few and is also the only to be outdone by a three year old angler!
Trevor Hogan
Melbourne Fishing Celebrity Trev is famous in Melbourne for catching small snapper and is designated anchor boy for the series.
